Upplandsleden Stage 6 Kroken - Almunge 23.5 km
Occasionally extreme terrain
This stage of the Upplandsleden offers wild, challenging and partly difficult navigation in varied terrain. If you want to avoid the paved roads north of Lagga, it is advisable to start at Kroken, which is 1.5 km to the north. Immediately after the start you enter complete wilderness. The terrain is at times extreme with large and small boulders, fallen trees and dense vegetation.
At the lake at Eda Kursgård the trail is diverted due to forestry. Take the path west of the lake and use the hand-powered ferry to get across to Fjellnora friluftsgård which is also a suitable lunch spot. There is a beach with picnic tables and even a restaurant. There is also a small zoo and plenty of other activities for children.
North of Fjellnora, the trail is redirected again but it is possible, with the help of a map, to walk the old route north to Ekdalen. You pass the old castle and a bathing place at Lötsjön. The trail then follows the railroad where an old steam locomotive runs during the summer months. The last part of the stage is easy to walk and goes through mixed forest to Länna.
