Upplandsleden Stage 12 Film - Ingstarbo - 14 km
Royal northern bog
Between Österbybruk and Film, the Uppland Trail is mostly on a paved road and you can therefore choose to start north of Film where the trail turns off into the forest.
Almost immediately you get the feeling of being in a northern forest. The feeling grows further as you approach Florarna, one of southern Sweden's largest undisturbed wetlands, which became a nature reserve in 1976. The area offers fantastic wilderness with unique nature and an incredible variety of wildlife, birds and flowers. You will even find cloudberries if the season is right.
Just before the bog the trail splits and we chose the eastern, slightly shorter route of the trail. This part of the trail goes over a 500-meter-long royal wooden footbridge that the king received as a 50-year gift from the Swedish army. Just before the footbridge, there is a roofed picnic area by Lake Vika.
The trail also passes the county administrative board's farm Risön. Here hikers can find some services and also stay overnight if they are doing a multi-day hike.
