Hintertux Gletcher, Austria
Pre-season on the glacier
Hintertux Gletcher offers great glacier skiing in the fall holidays or actually at any time of the year. Three modern, fast and really big egg lifts take you up to +3200 meters. Once up, you have about ten drag lifts and two seat lifts that serve about fifty kilometers of piste.
You could possibly think that they should invest a little in these lifts as well, as the lift queues are not really in relation to the space on the slopes. At most, however, you get six hundred altitude meters of well-pisted skiing down to Tuxer fernerhaus where, in addition to eating, you can also take the lift down into the valley again. A little out of the way, and in the shadow of the sun in the morning, you will find the Kasere lifts with great carving.
Despite free ski buses that run every 15 minutes, you should be careful to check the location of your accommodation. This is because most accommodation in the long valley claims to be right next to the glacier.
