Lowland walking

Blue Leden

The Blue Trail is a side trail of the Roslagsleden and runs from Vaxholm to Dommaruddens friluftsgård, near Åkersberga, where it connects to the Roslagsleden. The total length is just over 34 km.

If you only want to walk one stage, it is recommended to start at Kulla Vägskäl and finish in Vaxholm.

The trail is at times very poorly marked on the ground so bring a map.

Stage 1:
Vaxholm - Kulla Vägskäl - 16 km

The trail initially follows the sea with beautiful views. A beaver lodge with one or more very active beavers working hard to fell trees. If you want to swim, you pass several nice beaches.

Stage 2:
Kulla Vägskäl - Dommarudden - 18 km

It is difficult to find the start of the trail. The easiest way is to go in at the back of Vaxholmsvägen's wildlife trail. Otherwise, the stage is easy going with beautiful nature that gives a clear wilderness feeling varied with farmland. There are also plenty of both domestic and wild animals.

At the Dommaruddens friluftsgård stage destination, there is a restaurant, a swimming area and the possibility of staying overnight.

The stage is easy from start to finish and is mostly on gravel roads and forest paths. There is little difference in altitude.

Practical details

A good map is Calazo 1:50,000 for Northern Stockholm.

You can go by public transport to Kulla Vägskäl and Vaxholm via Danderyd. If you take the car to Vaxholm, there is good parking at the church. From Dommarudden it is about three kilometers to the nearest bus stop.

Should we have coffee or go for a walk?

Being a leader can be lonely. A cup of coffee, a walk and someone to talk to can be a start.
