Wacaco Minipresso NS2 - Portable espresso machine

Perfect espresso with fine crema without electricity.

2024-10-30

Wacaco has previously delivered several portable solutions for those of us who like the wilderness and prefer to drink espresso after dinner. Like previous models, the Minipresso NS2 offers an innovative way to make a perfect espresso in places where a regular coffee machine is not available. The NS2 is 46 mm shorter and more compact than its predecessor, while the water tank has become larger.

As the name suggests, this particular model only works with Nespresso or other NS compatible capsules, which you simply place in the machine. Next, you'll need hot water from a thermos or your storm kitchen and finally some muscle in your hand and forearms. You need to pump 5-6 times before the coffee comes out of the nozzle and then a few more times to fill the cup. It's fine to use both hands if you find it heavy and/or want more control.

The water tank holds 80 ml, which is equivalent to a double espresso, and with a full 18 bar (261psi) of pressure, you get perfect crema on top every time. The dimensions are 70 x 129 x 60 mm (h x l x w) and the weight 290 g. The machine is very compact and a cup and a drip tray hang together as a unit. The latter is stored in the lid and must be removed for the machine to work properly.

For those of us who want to protect nature, it is worth pointing out that the machine is partly made of wheat-based polymers and that several espresso capsule manufacturers have recycling programs.

If you have more space in your luggage, it's worth investing in the Wacaco storage bag which, in addition to the machine, also includes a practical case for coffee capsules and a larger drip tray.

Should we have coffee or go for a walk?

Being a leader can be lonely. A cup of coffee, a walk and someone to talk to can be a start.
