Plate for hard work

There are some things an iPad or other regular tablet can't do. For example, you don't want to leave it in water, take it out in the snow or drop it on the ground.

There are some things an iPad or other regular tablet can't do. For example, you don't want to leave it in water, take it out in the snow or drop it on the ground.

Therefore, for those of us who like to move around outdoors, a Samsung Galaxy Tab Active is a better choice.

The sleek 8-inch tablet has Wifi and built-in storage of 16 GB, expandable with a micro SD card. It runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) operating system and has a 1.2 GHz, Quad-Core and Qualcomm APQ 8026 processor backed by Exynos. There is also a variant with a slot for a 4G sim card.

The tablet is dust and water resistant to IP67, which of course also applies to all ports, connectors, microphones, speakers and buttons. This means that the tablet works safely even in a tent regardless of the season.

The detachable pen at the top allows you to handle the tablet even when wearing thick mittens. If you don't want to use the on-screen keyboard, there's a great writing function that translates your normal handwriting into, for example, text in a document, excel sheet or powerpoint presentation. The size of the device means that it can easily replace your notebook even at a meeting in the city.

For those who need enhanced features to combine adventure with work, the device also supports NFC, POGO charging and Samsung Knox security. It is also certified for Citrix and SAP.

The flexible format, speed and good speakers make this tablet fun to use. It's nice to not have to worry about packing the tablet water and shockproof when you leave the office for a few days in the wilderness. Android provides access to all the apps you'll ever need for both work and play.

If you want to talk about weaker areas, it's possibly screen resolution and camera performance, but for me these are only weaknesses in comparison with other tablets and not what you actually need.

If you want a tablet that can withstand a mountain trip in a tent with harsh weather and at the same time works great both in the office and at home on the couch, you will not find anyone better. Since the battery lasts a full 10 hours and can also be easily switched to an extra battery, you can work many hours during the day and still watch a good movie in the evening no matter where you have your base camp.

The Galaxy Tab Active is a wise choice for both business and adventure.

Should we have coffee or go for a walk?

Being a leader can be lonely. A cup of coffee, a walk and someone to talk to can be a start.
