Emergency Transmitter and Tracker (Bluetooth)
The third generation of a satellite-based emergency transmitter that covers almost the entire globe. In this version, you control the transmitter with your smartphone.
Spot Connect is the third generation of a satellite-based emergency transmitter that covers almost the entire globe. In this version, you control the transmitter with your smartphone (Android/Iphone) via Bluetooth. The small box is waterproof, weighs only 138 grams and is powered by two Lithium AA batteries that last six days of continuous use.
Just like the previous version, Spot Connect not only works for emergencies but can also be used to communicate with family and friends while traveling. You can send your GPS coordinates at regular intervals to let them know where you are and that you are okay even if you don't have cell phone coverage. If you wish, these messages can be posted online on a map so that anyone can follow your trip in real time. In the new version, you can also send text messages of up to 41 characters to everyone in your phone book and update Facebook and/or Twitter. However, the ability to also receive messages is not yet possible.
In the event of a problem, you can send emergency messages to selected friends and if you are in urgent need of help, you can alert the emergency services in your country. In addition, additional insurance for a small annual fee covers rescue costs of up to USD 100,000.
Spot connect is easy to use, good and fun for those who move around outside mobile coverage. Earlier versions have received some criticism for causing false alarms, which later versions have solved by more thoughtful placement of the buttons.
