More light in the darkness

Don't put your running shoes on the shelf just because the evenings are getting darker.

Don't put your running shoes on the shelf just because the evenings are getting darker. Get a real adrenaline rush from exercising in the forest with a good headlamp instead.

Petzl Nao is a small, 187 gram light but very powerful headlamp that works for many different activities. Via your computer, you can customize the lamp with various preset or custom-built light programs for the activity you are going to perform.

The lamp can also be set in so-called Reactive mode, which means that the light output from the two super diodes automatically adapts to your light needs by sensing how much light hits the built-in light sensor. If you shine the light on something close to you, the lamp will provide less light, but if you look up and shine the light far away, you will automatically get maximum output. Reactive mode is not so good for activities where you want a lot of light all the time like running or MTB, but very good if you are hiking or working on something.

The lamp is powered by a Li-Ion rechargeable battery that charges quickly with a USB connection. How much burn time you get depends of course on the brightness you choose to use. The range goes from 7 up to an almost unimaginable 355 lumens. Watch your eyes! The lamp is weatherproofed to IPX4. If you want to extend the battery life in winter by storing the battery under your clothes, you can buy an extension cord.

The lamp is very high quality and perhaps the most comfortable lamp I have used. It is easy to adjust the fit so it sits perfectly. A less technically inclined person may find the lamp complicated with all the options and settings. The software that controls the settings is also still quite unstable and requires some manual intervention to work well. However, once the settings are made, the light is very useful for all kinds of activities.

Should we have coffee or go for a walk?

Being a leader can be lonely. A cup of coffee, a walk and someone to talk to can be a start.
