Val d'isére, France

Val d'isére is good! Huge with lots of vertical drop, long well-prepared slopes and unlimited off-piste. There is varied skiing for all orientations. They have really managed to make the lift system efficient and it is connected in a fantastic way. The lift queues are rarely very long if you ignore the morning rush. The village is friendly and has everything you could wish for. Swim or work out at Aquasportif after skiing.

As virtually all skiing takes place above the tree line, this means some weather sensitivity. Expect high prices for most things, even at the grocery store.
