The mountain between us
"What if your life depended on a stranger?"
When their scheduled flight is canceled due to bad weather, Ben, a neurosurgeon, and Alex, a photographer, hire a small private plane to get them on their way. Unfortunately, the pilot not only fails to leave a flight message but also dies of a stroke in mid-flight. The plane crashes on a mountain in the High Uintas Wilderness in northeastern Utah but Ben, Alex and the pilot's dog survive the crash.
Together they do what they can to survive on the remote snow-covered mountain. When they realize that help is not coming, they set off through the wilderness for one last chance to survive.
Directed by Oscar nominee Hany Abu-Assad, the 2017 film stars Oscar winners Kate Winslet and Idris Elba.
This movie is something as unusual as a romantic survival movie with some emphasis on romance. The story it tells may be somewhat thin but the two main characters as well as the wilderness scenes, shot in the stunning nature of British Columbia, make it worth watching.
