Sörmlandsleden stage 56, Trosa - Tullgarn, 21 km
Can be walked in the opposite direction
We walked the stage in the opposite direction and finished with comfortable accommodation at Bomans in Trosa. Taxi from Trosa to our stage start Tullgarn Castle cost 300 SEK. It is possible to take SJ/Kommunalt from Stockholm and return the same day.
The stage begins with gravel roads over a magnificent agricultural landscape before the well marked trail enters the forest. The hike through the forest that belongs to Tullgarn's nature reserve is quite hilly and soon you reach the turnoff to Furuholmen. Here it is possible to take a detour to an ancient castle with sea views on a 900 meter loop. If you continue towards Trosa there is the possibility of sea bathing at Komöte and you pass the ruins of Anderviken's old lime kiln.
The walk then continues past reedbeds and fine meadows before re-entering an area of hilly forest. If you don't mind eating your lunch without a view of the sea, this is also the only shelter of the stage. The place is nice and in addition to the shelter there is a picnic table, a fireplace and a toilet.
From the shelter, the trail goes through the forest down to the water again and then follows the waterline towards Trosa. From Djupviken the trail becomes more and more urban and eventually the gravel roads turn to asphalt before the stage ends along the boat-filled Trosaån.
